The Columbia County Board of Supervisors read and formally recognized two proclamations during the meeting: one marking the 100th anniversary of the Stuyvesant Falls Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 and another proclaiming April 2025 as National County Government Month in Columbia County.
A county official (Ron Knott, invited to read) read a proclamation recounting the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company’s origin in April 1925, early membership and fund-raising, purchases of early apparatus, and community service through the decades, including mutual-aid responses and continuity of volunteer service; the proclamation said the county proudly recognizes the fire company’s century of service and that the board will present the proclamation at the fire company banquet in April.
Separately, Supervisor Matt Morell read a proclamation declaring April 2025 National County Government Month in Columbia County, noting counties’ role in delivering services such as public safety, transportation, health care and infrastructure, and encouraging citizens to learn about county government work. The board recorded the proclamations for presentation and archival with the clerk. Both items were ceremonial recognitions included on the meeting agenda.
