The Wallingford School District Instructional Committee on March 3 voted by consensus to approve a curriculum modification that will offer Marketing in a Digital Age as a three-credit dual-enrollment course through Southern Connecticut State University beginning in the 2025–26 school year.
The change matters because it will allow high school students to earn college credit while completing a district course. "So we reached out to them to see if it was possible if we could articulate our marketing class with them. We sent them over our curriculum. They approved it right away," said Mr. Roman, the presenter, describing the district's process with the university. He added that the district's instructors were vetted as adjunct faculty and approved by the university.
Committee members asked no substantive questions before the roll call. The committee took a consensus vote; the transcript records board members answering "yes" in turn and the chair announcing the motion passes. The presentation stated the change will take effect in the 2025–26 school year.
The course modification follows an existing memorandum of understanding between the district and Southern Connecticut State University that allows other dual-enrollment offerings. The presenter said the final administrative step is the committee's approval to convert the course to dual enrollment and offer the three college credits to eligible high school students.
The committee recording shows a roll-call-style consensus with multiple board members voting in favor; no objections or abstentions were recorded in the meeting transcript. The change will be implemented by district staff and reflected in course catalogs for the 2025–26 school year, per the presentation.
