Village announces Drug Take Back Day, hydrant flushing, curbside brush pickup and community cleanup

Chief Finland reminded residents that Drug Take Back Day will be April 26 and that the department maintains a secure drug take-back box in the police lobby year-round; collected prescriptions are sent to the DEA for destruction. Capital projects manager Katie said hydrant flushing will begin the week of April 28 south of the railroad tracks and the week of May 5 north of the tracks.
The village announced the 2025 spring village-wide curbside brush pickup: beginning Monday, May 5 for addresses south of the railroad tracks and Monday, May 12 for residents north of the railroad tracks. Spring cleanup pickup dates were listed as Saturday, April 26 for south-of-tracks residents and Saturday, May 3 for north-of-tracks residents. Alfresco Alley — a downtown event area — will return May 1, and the village is hosting an annual community cleanup on May 10; volunteers must contact Public Works by May 7 to sign up and will meet at Alfresco Alley at 8:30 a.m.
Community Development Director Simmons and Administrator Eric provided no additional updates at the meeting. The announcements were informational; no formal board actions were recorded in response.
