Marshall Public Schools board approves 2024–25 general fund amendment; curriculum proposals sent for 30-day review

The Marshall Public Schools Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved a budget amendment for the 2024–25 general fund that raises the district's projected year‑end fund balance and funds one‑time capital and program items, and received first readings of two curriculum proposals that will be available for public review for 30 days.

The board approved the amendment after a presentation by Kendra (staff member), who said the district ended the 2023–24 year with a larger fund balance than projected and carried that increase into the amendment. Kendra said the district “ended the year with 7,400,000.0 or 18% fund balance,” and that the amendment estimates ending 2024–25 with about 6,500,000.0, or roughly 14% of expenditures.
