Danville clerk seeks cemetery software, digital records and reclassification for legislative assistant

Clerk staff said the city has sat down with three cemetery-software vendors and will bring a formal recommendation to the next commission meeting. The project is paired with a digitization effort to transfer paper records into searchable electronic files so residents and staff can find burial and plot information without paper books.
The clerk also requested a capital appropriation to replace aging furniture in the commission chambers and conference rooms, noting the furnishings date from when City Hall opened in 2010'011. Finally, the clerk said she will ask the commission to reclassify the current administrative assistant for the legislative department to a "legislative clerk," arguing the incumbent will perform many of the clerk's day-to-day duties while the clerk is on planned leave and will serve as a natural backup.
