Dr. Sims interviewed VIP Academy senior Reginald Dixon on Facebook Live about his streetwear brand, plans to attend Kennesaw State University and how the virtual program helped him balance school, work and business.
Dr. Sims, superintendent of Bibb County Schools, interviewed VIP Academy senior Reginald Dixon during a Facebook Live session to highlight Dixon’s streetwear brand and his postgraduation plans.
The interview showcased how Bibb County’s VIP Academy allows students to combine full-time work, entrepreneurship and finishing high school. Dixon described starting his brand in 10th grade, running pop-up events and preparing to attend Kennesaw State University.
Dixon said, “I’m a graduate senior this year,” and told viewers he plans to attend Kennesaw State University to major in construction management with a minor in science business. He described his clothing line as “Aeternus Happiness” (spelled out on Instagram during the livestream) and said he began the brand in the 10th grade, “so it’s going on 2 years.”
Dixon said his business recently participated in a pop-up shop on Sheraton Drive with “over 25 brands in attendance,” and that a relative operated a food truck at the event. He also said he works a full-time job while finishing school through VIP Academy: “it allowed me to do all 3.”
On family support, Dixon said his mother provided money and encouragement when he first invested in the business: “When my mom did, she gave me everything I needed.” He credited counselor Miss Harrison with academic follow-through and described VIP Academy as enabling him to graduate while maintaining work and business commitments: “I’m graduating this May in honor.”
Dr. Sims praised Dixon’s initiative and encouraged parents to support students pursuing similar paths: “I’m just encouraged by everything that you’ve shared,” the superintendent said during the livestream. No formal actions, policy proposals or votes were taken during the session.
The livestream was presented as a student spotlight and informational piece on VIP Academy rather than an official school board meeting; it provided viewers with one student’s account of balancing virtual schooling, employment and entrepreneurship.
