NEW SHOREHAM — At the April 9 meeting the planning board reviewed a redraft of defined land‑use terms and a list of prohibited uses in the zoning ordinance and voted to forward the updated definitions to the town council for review.
Planner Karen presented two organizational options containing identical substantive changes, including clarified wording on boats, vehicle rentals and agriculture references. The board asked staff to check specific cross‑references (for example, where farming and livestock terms appear elsewhere in the ordinance) and to incorporate any technical edits the town clerk requires before transmittal.
The board approved the transmittal motion and also approved minutes for February 12 and March 12 with a minor correction noted in the record. The board indicated it will continue work on a separate outdoor‑lighting draft and expects to return that ordinance for review before the summer season.
Next steps: Planning staff will finalize formatting and deliver the revised definitions package to the town council for its consideration.
