No bids returned for auditing services; town to resubmit RFQ after Auditor General review

Warren officials told the council Tuesday they received no bids in response to the recent request for auditing services and will rebid after the state Auditor General reviews and approves the town’s RFQ.
The finance director said the town must submit the RFQ to the Auditor General for content review before advertising; the Auditor General returned the RFQ with edits on Tuesday morning. Staff will incorporate those edits and resubmit. The Auditor General also offered a list of firms the town may solicit directly if the rebid returns no responses.
Council members asked whether the lack of bidders reflected the RFQ process or market conditions; staff said there are six active auditing firms in the state regularly performing municipal audits and that other municipalities are experiencing similar procurement challenges. The council authorized staff to revise the RFQ per Auditor General guidance and rebid, and to directly solicit firms from the Auditor General’s list if needed.
