Board approves reemployment lists; trustees reject one administrative reappointment after executive session

The board then voted on administrator reemployment. Trustee Jennifer Hodgkinson moved to approve the list of administrators recommended by the administration; the motion was seconded by Mr. Nossal and carried in a roll call vote 6–0 with Dr. Monterey Belton recused from the portion of the vote that concerned his spouse’s contract (Belton had filed a written recusal under Policy BCB and state law). The board later approved an amended administrator reemployment list in a subsequent motion (vote recorded as 7–0) but then voted not to approve the amended contract recommendation item numbered 86. The motion to not reemploy administrator contract number 86 passed 5–2, with Trustees Daniel and Hutchinson recorded as opposed.
Other business votes during the public meeting included approval of the consent action items (minutes and personnel recommendations) and adoption of elementary and secondary math textbooks. The board approved the math textbook adoption on second reading by a 7–0 vote.
The chair noted recusal filings were received in writing from Dr. Belton at the start of the meeting; the recusal applied to discussion and actions related to the specific contract of his spouse. Trustees said the executive session focused on contract recommendations and legal advice regarding personnel, and the public meeting resumed after the board recorded the motions.
