Bob Schneider, the library outreach aid, described his duties and background in a staff spotlight to the advisory board. "My official title is library outreach aid," Schneider said, and he outlined responsibilities that include marketing materials, website updates, social media postings, calendar maintenance and handling holds and front-desk duties.
Schneider told the board he works about 16 hours per week (six hours Monday, six hours Wednesday and four hours Thursday, with occasional Saturday help) and that his primary morning task is processing holds and preparing items for patron pickup. He said he designs newsletters and flyers, posts events to local outlets including the Belgrade News and Bozeman Magazine, and helps produce craft kits and program materials. "We all work together as a team, and we get it all done," Schneider said.
Board members praised Schneider's contributions. One board member said Schneider has been "an incredible part of the team" for marketing and publication work and that recent newsletters and flyers have improved substantially. Schneider described a long career in graphic design, creative direction and branding (including running his own freelance company and teaching integrated design as an adjunct), and said he was "very grateful" for the opportunity to work at the library in retirement.
Why it matters: Schneider's role supports patron outreach and daily operations; his marketing work and calendar management help inform the public about programs and the library move. The board noted Schneider will continue similar duties during the upcoming move and closure.
