The mayor apologized to golf course staff, board members and golfers for comments made at a previous council meeting about an outstanding $75,000 balance, and the board discussed steps to clear that historical receivable.
The mayor said she had not done the background check before speaking at the council meeting and, after conferring with finance staff, asked that the matter be resolved. “So I'd like to just say sorry I'm stupid,” the mayor said during the meeting, adding that staff had since traced the issue to a finance office step that had not been completed.
Board members and staff described the $75,000 as a historical receivable dating to around 2013, with partial payments noted in later years. Members discussed routing the funds from prior city-council allocations: $50,000 previously earmarked for golf carts and $250,000 earmarked for a Phase 3 project. At the meeting one board member asked that, if possible, $50,000 be taken from the carts allocation and $25,000 from the $250,000 project allocation so the golf course would still have most of the project funds intact.
City finance and clubhouse staff said an internal transfer had not yet been completed and that the finance officer planned to act the next day; the board asked staff to confirm whether the transfer can be made and to report back. The board later approved the financial reports by voice vote; the transcript does not show a separate recorded roll-call specifically authorizing the reallocation.
Ending
Board members welcomed the planned resolution and said they expected the matter to be closed once finance confirms the transfer.
