Historic Preservation Board schedules May activities, Story Mansion event; will shift adaptive-reuse panel to fall

Staff said city funding for the Story Mansion event would be smaller than last year and that Friends of Story Mansion and the Story Mansion Foundation may fill any gap; staff also asked the board to confirm desired services (for example, cookie orders) so staff can finalize logistics.
"We will get a quote of the cookies to then determine how much money we need," a staff member said while discussing the Story Mansion plans and city cost-sharing.
The board agreed to postpone a larger adaptive-reuse panel (featuring developers, architects and planners) from early May to the fall so the panel can respond to the more advanced UDC discussion and to allow more time to secure speakers. The board’s outreach group discussed candidate sites for the walking tour, including the Kirk Homestead adaptive reuse on Main Street and the Gallatin Laundry building (which has rehabilitation tax-credit experience).
Practical arrangements and publicity
Staff said they will circulate confirmed dates to board members, coordinate with the city communications team for outreach, and provide a contact for radio and media announcements. Board members volunteered to pursue contacts for speakers and property owners. The board agreed to cancel the regular May meeting to accommodate Preservation Month events and staff leave schedules.
