Nathan (county staff) said Sullivan Development contractors are making good progress at Willow Creek Villas on East Elbeth Drive: the clubhouse and multiple unit clusters are shingled and vertical construction is underway at the northwest complex. Signage for the wait list was to be placed soon and contact info has been shared on Facebook.
On another housing initiative Nathan said appraisals are in progress that are needed before the county can move forward with a proposed REDI‑funded workforce housing catalyst project. He described REDI as the state’s regional approach grant program and said the county has a tentative $1,000,000 allocation to use as a public‑private match for construction of market‑rate, lower‑priced homes targeted at the county’s working‑class and starter‑home market. Nathan emphasized these would be market‑rate homes (not subsidized units) with varying price points aimed at reducing long commutes for area factory workers.
No formal commitment of the REDI funds or appropriation occurred at the meeting; Nathan said appraisals must be completed before the redevelopment commission and commissioners proceed with bidding or land decisions.
