The study commission discussed its communications and outreach approach at the April 3 meeting and agreed to pursue a dedicated web presence and an engagement plan to gather broader public input.
City staff told commissioners the Information Technology department can build a subsite (similar to the MPO site) hosted under the city’s web framework. IT staff estimated about 3–4 weeks of work to build a full site from a questionnaire of requirements; commissioners discussed selecting a short domain name such as bozemanstudy.com or a redirect to an existing page while the subsite is developed.
Commissioners said they also want a written engagement plan and a communications strategy to accompany the site. Deanna Campbell and Barb Sestero volunteered to draft an engagement plan template to present at the May 1 meeting, and staff said they would circulate the IT questionnaire to commissioners in advance so members could provide feedback by email before the next meeting.
Ending: Commissioners and staff agreed to begin developing a dedicated site and to share a draft engagement/communications proposal at the May 1 meeting; staff estimated about a month to construct an initial subsite once the commission provides content guidance.
