McHenry District 15 board approves consent agenda, policy updates, textbook disposal and a resignation agreement

The McHenry School District 15 Board of Education recorded multiple formal actions at its March 11, 2025 meeting.

Consent agenda: The board approved consent agenda items 2(a), 2(b) and 2(c) by roll call. The vote was recorded as yes from Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Mejavec, Mrs. Turner, Mr. Stoner, Mr. Waltmeyer and Mr. DeGeorge.

Press policy updates (second reading): The board approved the October 2024 press policy updates on second reading. Dr. Klitsky explained that the update contained changes to existing policies, with "no new policies within there." The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded as yes.

Disposal of district property (textbooks): The board approved disposal of approximately 1,500 old textbooks following a new social studies adoption. Mr. Schubert said the district had a proposal from K12 Books to purchase 250 titles for $700, and the administration will seek donation or sale opportunities for the remaining books. The motion to approve disposal passed by roll call.

Resignation agreement: The board approved a resignation agreement with tenured teacher Jacqueline Mesic. As described at the meeting, the agreement places the employee on paid administrative leave and requires a resignation effective at the end of the school year. The motion carried after a roll-call vote in which Mrs. Turner voted no and the remaining recorded members voted yes.

Each of the above actions was taken in open session and recorded by roll call; the board also met in closed session during the agenda to discuss personnel matters before returning to open session to approve the resignation agreement.
