Milton council reviews fee-schedule updates, including 3.8% CPI adjustment and code clean‑up

Interim Director Robock told the Milton City Council that staff will return next week with an updated fee schedule and related code language for adoption.
Robock said the amendments would remove community-building rental fees after a surplus was approved in December, update land‑use and subdivision fees, and "increase various plumbing permit, mechanical permit, other permit, inspection and investigation fees by the CPIU change of 3.8%." He added that language would be added so fees marked with an asterisk would automatically increase each year by that CPIU amount.
The change package also proposes to make electric reconnection fees consistent with water reconnection fees and to move specific dollar amounts out of municipal code into the fee schedule. Robock said the city attorney suggested wording edits in a supplement distributed at the meeting; staff will incorporate those edits in the redline before the council votes.
Council members confirmed the increases are intended to cover costs and that the CPI adjustment will be automatic. Councilwoman Boylan asked staff to confirm the packet page mapping for the supplement; Robock said the attorney's edits will be reflected on page 36 of the packet when returned for final action.
No formal vote was taken. The council indicated consensus to bring the resolution (Res. 25-1987) and ordinance (Ord. 2111-25) back for approval at the next meeting with the attorney's language and the CPI language included.
The revised fee schedule, final ordinance text and updated redline will be provided to the council before the next meeting for formal consideration.
