City staff told the LaSalle City Council that the local housing grant program has drawn an “overwhelming response” from homeowners and that staff have received what they described as more than enough qualified applications.
Kurt (staff) reported that staff had “an overwhelming response rate for qualified homeowners” and that they had what they needed but that applicants still have until the following Friday to turn in applications. In response to aldermen’s questions, Kurt gave the specific figure of 39 applicants received to date.
Council members asked staff to publicize the final deadline; staff said they would post the notice on the city’s Facebook page. A council member noted the program uses a point system for selection and told residents that a large applicant pool should not discourage people from applying if they have not yet submitted an application.
No vote was required on this informational update; staff will continue to accept applications through the stated deadline and then process applications per the program’s selection criteria.
