Morgan Township approves $85,000 supplemental budget and $49,237 PO for community park build

The Morgan Township Board of Trustees approved a supplemental budget and a purchase order to advance construction at Morgan Township Community Park.
The board approved a $85,000 supplemental revenue and appropriations budget allocation for fund 1000 to pay for salaries, contracted services, operating supplies and repairs related to the community park project. Trustees also authorized a purchase order (PO) to Panchura LLC not to exceed $49,237 to install curbing and set large concrete columns that will anchor shade features for the playground. Trustees said some of that PO total will be offset by donated materials and services.
Officials reported multiple material and service donations for the park build: Unilock and Harrison are donating pavers, Quikrete is donating 200 bags of concrete mix, SRM Concrete committed 10 yards of concrete, and Atkins and Stang Electric offered equipment and labor for drilling piers that are 6–7 feet deep. The board discussed a volunteer community build scheduled for May 29 with a makeup date in June in case of rain; organizers plan a community-build “trial” format and the event planners reported that a recent Easter egg hunt drew about 125 children and filled every parking spot.
Trustees also heard that the township applied to the Ross community grant program for $5,000 to fund a drinking fountain at the park. The board discussed an inspection PO of up to $5,000 required by the township’s insurer to certify the playground after installation; trustees postponed that PO to the next meeting pending vendor information (the inspector referenced in discussion was Southwest Buckeye Company).
The board approved motions for the supplemental budget and the Panchura PO by roll call. Trustees noted the playground equipment, fence and impact surface are being donated; the curbing and specialized deep piers require contracted work because township crews lack the necessary equipment.
Trustees asked staff to bring the playground inspection contract and any remaining vendor details to a future meeting for final approval.
