JB Brooks, director of the state's attorney's office cyber lab, said the GreyKey product "is a combination of hardware and software that allows us lawful access to process data from cellular phone devices, specifically iOS devices."
Brooks told the committee the state's attorney's office cyber lab serves a group of police agencies in the county and operates independently from the sheriff's office. During discussion a county member said the sheriff's office has "not enough resources" to extract evidence from phones and expressed support for increasing the county's capacity to process mobile-device evidence because it is critical in many criminal cases.
