County staff told the board that architects and contractors met with department heads to review a revised layout for the county building and that updated drawings will be prepared following those meetings.
Matt (Finance Director) said meetings were held with the regional superintendent (ROE), maintenance, human resources, land use, GIS, VAC, treasurer, clerk, assessor and the county's administrative team, along with Narvik Brothers and Studio GC, to walk through the most recent draft plans. He said the Narvik team also met with the health department and that several adjustments were identified and incorporated.
Matt described the meetings as productive and said the project team is working to keep the design within the projected budget. He said department-level meetings are helpful because department staff can discuss operational needs directly with architects and builders. The county indicated it had aimed to present drawings in April but that additional review made May a more likely target for presenting a refined set of plans to the full board.
On phase 2 of the project, Matt said that planning is at a more preliminary stage and that department directors have been meeting directly with architects to discuss needs before administrative staff are involved.
No final approvals or contract changes were made at the meeting; staff will return with updated drawings.
