D60 board approves Denver Broncos helmet program for high schools

The Pueblo School District No. 60 Board of Education voted April 8 to accept a statewide helmet distribution program from the Denver Broncos Foundation called "All In, All Covered."

The board accepted a program participation agreement that will provide helmets to the district’s high school football programs over a multi‑year schedule. Board members recorded unanimous approval: the roll call recorded "Aye" votes from Mr. Cisneros, Dr. De Niro, Judge Mays, Mrs. Panunzio (President) and Mr. Tebow.

Mr. Bravo, who presented the agreement to the board, said each high school would receive 70 helmets over a four‑year period (a figure he presented as 17 helmets per year at each high school, amounting to the 70‑helmet allocation per program over time) and that the helmets retail at approximately $750 each. He said the Broncos Foundation will supply the helmets and the district will handle upkeep and reconditioning costs.

Mr. Bravo said coaches will identify student recipients using local criteria including academic standing, attendance and behavior; the district will require parental permission and a program waiver to document that the Broncos Foundation is not liable for injuries sustained during play.

The board’s vote followed the motion to accept the agreement; the meeting transcript shows the motion was moved and seconded and that the board adopted the agreement by roll call.

No dissenting votes were recorded. The board also approved procedural agenda items earlier in the meeting, including adopting the special‑meeting agenda before the work session.
