Sonya Harvard elected Metro Council clerk; several items assigned to committees

The Louisville Metro Council unanimously elected Sonya Harvard as Metro Council clerk at the Jan. 9 organizational meeting. President Pro Tem nominated Harvard; with only one nomination the council approved her by voice vote and Assistant Jefferson County Clerk Holly Hopkins administered the oath.

The council also recorded committee assignments for new business (items 6 through 12): - Item 6: Ordinance appropriating $2,000 from District 21 neighborhood development funds to the Louisville Community Design Center Inc. for the Lucille Leggett Neighborhood Institute (assigned to Labor, Economic Development, and Appropriations Committee). - Item 7: Ordinance appropriating an amount read in the record as "$11,000.600" from District 21 neighborhood development funds through Brightside, Inc., to Action Landscape, Inc., for beautification on Lucas Avenue and Durant Lane (assigned to Labor, Economic Development, and Appropriations Committee). - Item 8: Resolution ratifying and approving a collective bargaining agreement through June 30, 2026, between Louisville Metro Government and Teamsters Local (as read) for certain Department of Public Works and related employees (assigned to Labor, Economic Development, and Appropriations Committee). - Items 9–12: Land Development Code (LDC) amendments and zoning cases (case numbers read into the record include 24-LDC-0009, 24-LDC-0011, 24Zone0085 and 24Zone0117) assigned to the Planning & Zoning Committee.

The clerk's election and the committee assignments were procedural actions taken during the organizational meeting; no contested roll-call votes were required for the clerk's election or the committee assignments as read into the record.
