The recommended bid from a local firm (Ellen Kersting/Alan Kirschstein construction referenced in staff remarks) was substantially lower than alternate bids the county received.
The approved scope includes replacement with upgraded 26-gauge steel, two roof-access ladders, and the county is foregoing other alternatives such as new gutters and liner at this time. Staff said materials would be procured and stored on the fairgrounds site and that construction is planned for late summer (after the county fair) to minimize disruption.
Outcome: The board voted to award and authorize the contract not to exceed $87,000 and directed staff to proceed with procurement and scheduling. Construction was described as anticipated for August–September with material staging beforehand.
