County to consider awarding Taxiway Alpha bid to Pyramid; fuel farm bids rejected and staff exploring options

Staff described options to move forward that include increasing quantities of asphalt and concrete work under the taxiway contract to cover grading and site preparation for the fuel farm so the airport can proceed while procurement options for the fuel tanks are re-evaluated.
Supply-chain and pricing issues were raised in the discussion. Staff reported that tariffs and rising material costs—specifically for stainless steel used in above-ground piping—have contributed to volatile pricing. One contractor told staff a stainless-steel piping estimate would only be valid for 24 hours, underscoring price uncertainty.
Airport staff said they will request direction from the county commissioners at the Tuesday meeting and then meet with the low bidder and subcontractors to determine next steps. No final award or contract amendment was decided at the airport board meeting.
