The Crawford County Commission opened three vendor bids for HDPE (high-density polyethylene) highway pipe and directed staff to review the proposals and return with a recommendation.
Alyssa Edwards of the Road & Bridge department read prices submitted by the three vendors. Wellborn Sales offered an 8-inch, 20-foot HDPE dual-wall pipe at $5.65 per foot and a 10-inch at $8.46 per foot; Wellborn listed a minimum initial order of $7,500. Cleaver did not quote 8-inch or 10-inch sizes in the submitted sheet; its 12-inch price was listed at $9.55 per foot and a $4,000 minimum order. Bose 1 Stop listed an 8-inch at $5.60 per foot, a 10-inch at $8.38, 12-inch at $8.81 per foot, and stated it keeps 18" through 24" sizes in stock and has no minimum order.
The commission asked Road & Bridge staff to take the bids back for review and return with a recommendation. "Permissioners, I recommend that we send them back with Alyssa after review then, and then make the recommendation to us," a commissioner said. The transcript shows no formal vote on award at the meeting; staff follow-up was directed instead.
The bid-opening record in the transcript included unit prices for multiple diameters (8", 10", 12", 15", 18", 24", 30", 36", 42", 60") and the vendors' stated minimum-order conditions or inventory notes. Road & Bridge staff said some pipe sizes are stocked and others would be ordered to replenish county inventory.
Staff will return with a formal recommendation for contract award or purchase authorization after reviewing vendor terms and minimum-order conditions.
