Council holds 911 director reclassification and dispatcher pay discussion pending

Rick Hoppe, the mayor’s chief of staff, asked the Lincoln City Council on April 7 to delay action on a proposed reclassification of the 911 center director and related compensation work for dispatch staff until the administration completes an analysis of pay and retention measures. The council voted to hold the item as “pending, no date certain.”
Hoppe told the council the reclassification would accompany a pay increase for the director and that the administration also wants to address compensation for 911 dispatchers and retention strategies. He said the pieces were interrelated and that it would be “a little out of order” to adopt the reclassification without the accompanying compensation analysis and performance information.
After Hoppe’s presentation a councilmember moved to delay the matter pending completion of the other items; a second was recorded and the roll call showed unanimous approval. The chair announced, “Motion carried 7 0.” No new effective date or deadline was set; the council asked that the administration return with the complete package when ready.
