Council approves ordinance 25-13 on first reading to amend Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee rules

Council Member Clark explained one substantive change in the draft: the committee recommended reducing the frequency of regular meetings to once a month, on the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m., and moving the meeting location to the OEAC at 36 South Prospect Street. Clark said additional language will be provided at the next council meeting to give the committee limited flexibility to make minor rule changes without returning to council.
Council Member New moved to approve Ordinance 25‑13 on first reading; Council Member McFarland seconded. The clerk called the roll: English, Lopez, Peterson, Waltster, New, McFarland and Johnson all voted Aye. The measure passed on first reading. Clark asked council to pass it on first reading and return with the final redline at the next meeting.
The ordinance text states that it may take effect immediately if so determined by motion of at least five members of council; the ordinance was passed on first reading at this meeting. Council will consider any final edits and the ordinance’s second and third readings at subsequent meetings per charter and council rules.
