Town of Sudbury Library trustees reviewed upcoming community programs, said the library's LSTA grant funds are available and noted a missing report from a partner referred to as GLF.
Trustees outlined several May events: a series of historical programs during Patriot Week, a locally focused “within May be with you” extravaganza (events related to farming and sustainable gardening), a book discussion of Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, a presentation on beekeeping and sustainable gardening, and a farming-related speaker. Trustees said the library will participate in the Locally Grown Sudbury farmers market scheduled for May 31 at Fairbank; if weather requires it, activities will move indoors.
Trustees also reported the library will staff a table at an upcoming community health fair to issue library cards and provide information on passport and notary services. A spring spotlight presentation—part of the trustees’ semiannual update commitments—was scheduled for the spring meeting.
On finance, trustees said the library has money from its LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant in the bank and that invoices have been submitted for reimbursement; one trustee described the challenge as spending the grant funds before invoicing. Trustees asked about the status of a GLF report: they said GLF had not submitted a 2024 summary that had been expected.
Trustees also mentioned recent staff changes: the sustainability coordinator had left and departments are regrouping responsibilities. No policy or budget votes occurred on these items during the meeting.
