Commissioners discussed progress on the town’s field needs assessment and agreed to wait for a brief internal readout from the consultant before scheduling a public meeting with user groups.
Dennis said Gail Associates has collected questionnaires from most user groups and is compiling maintenance and budget inputs from the town’s DPW, the school department and other stakeholders. The consultant is assembling a draft report that will include usage data, maintenance cost figures and suggested priorities; Dennis said the consultant plans at least one public meeting to present findings.
Commissioners agreed the next steps are: staff and a smaller working group will meet with Gail Associates to review highlights and maintenance findings, the consultant will update the project timeline, and the commission will then set a public meeting date (likely in April, May or June) and invite primary user groups to present and ask questions. Commissioners also asked to receive copies of the materials Gail Associates has already been given, including town budget spreadsheets and user feedback collected to date.
No formal action was taken, but commissioners agreed they want the commission to host at least one dedicated public meeting to review the draft field assessment and allow user groups to respond.
