The abatement request came from the owner of 6 Sycamore Lane, who said irrigation installed May 25 caused a large jump in billed water and asked that the commission reduce the sewer portion of a past bill because irrigation water did not enter the sewer system. The commission discussed whether granting an abatement without a separate irrigation submeter would create a precedent and open the door to similar requests from other customers. The commission voted to deny the abatement request. Tom Devlin moved the motion to deny the abatement; Jake Stanley seconded. The chair called for the vote and declared it unanimous.
Commissioners also voted to accept the minutes of Feb. 13, 2025. Tom Devlin moved to accept the minutes; Jake Stanley seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
A routine bill for the commission’s secretary—$120 covering recording services and work producing minutes for an executive session—was approved after a motion by Tom Devlin and a second recorded in the minutes. The vote was unanimous.
The commission adjourned following the votes. No legal or policy changes were adopted at the meeting beyond the approvals and denials recorded above.
