Parks and Recreation approves filming, safety nets, event spending and schedule tweaks

The Town of Blackstone Parks and Recreation meeting on March 24 approved a series of motions that cleared a request to film a student music video at Roosevelt Field, allocated funds for field safety equipment and event supplies, and adjusted several league-use times.

The actions were largely routine and passed by voice vote after brief discussion. The commission approved the filming request from a local resident to shoot an Avery Markle Band music video at Roosevelt Field on April 20 and April 27, subject to field availability on the later date. The body also approved small purchases and budget authorizations: up to $300 for backstop netting, roughly $202 to order interlocking walkway mats for the Tabizi sunshade area, up to $500 for supplies for the town’s Easter event, and up to $300 for two local advertisements (summaries/magnets). The commission also changed a scheduled men’s softball end time from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sundays and approved routine bills.
