City Manager Jack updated council that five letters of interest had been received for the Brookville City charter review commission. Councilors recalled that at a prior meeting they had discussed a target commission size of seven to nine members.
Several councilors said with the current workload and schedule — including timing to place any charter changes on a November ballot — the city was not under immediate deadline pressure and could afford to seek more applicants. One councilor proposed a 30‑day extension of the application period and another suggested 45 days; the motion to reopen recruitment for an additional 30 days (with a goal of seven to nine members) carried.
Staff said they would repost the call for volunteers immediately, accept applications for the extension period, and return a recommendation to council at the next regular meeting for formal appointment of residents to the commission.
