Resident warns of drainage, developer plans near Evergreen Trace; asks city not to relinquish leverage

Sherry Simon of 12329 Wolf Creek Pine told the council she and other property owners have been working with city staff and the developer on drainage around a detention/retention area behind her property and said she wants her objection placed on the public record.
Simon said the developer’s earlier approved plan discharged water behind a nearby barn; a later drawing she received would move the discharge closer to her house instead of routing water to the ditch. "The new plan... they moved it to where it would discharge in my front yard instead," Simon said. She told council she and staff walked the site with engineers and that Montgomery Soil and Water and Cherry Township representatives had participated in discussions.
Simon said she has spent about $7,500 more to get drainage to the ditch and described a recent sinkhole and a tile failure on the property. "My big fear is the developer could say, you know what? So he approved this... it's sorry about your luck," she said, urging council to retain leverage until the drainage plan is fixed. She requested that city staff continue to pursue a solution and keep her informed.
Council acknowledged her comments; no formal action was recorded at the meeting on the drainage matter and staff said they had been in communication with the resident.
