City manager: AT&T rescinded request to shift relocation costs for communications facilities

City Manager Jack Prince told the Brookville City Council on Jan. 7 that AT&T had filed a request with the state public utility commission that, if granted, would have allowed AT&T to require government entities to pay to relocate and underground communications facilities in the public right-of-way.
Prince said the company rescinded that application within the last week and therefore “at this time legislation is no longer needed from city council.” He said staff had planned to propose supporting language for the Ohio Municipal League's efforts to oppose such a change, but that plan is on hold because AT&T withdrew the filing.
