Parks advisory board selects two honorees for Fife Fountain Memorial

The Fife Parks Advisory Board on April (meeting) voted to add two names to the city's Fountain Memorial, selecting nominee Tommy Yatsui and nominee James P. (Jim) Call after hearing presentations from family members and nominators.
The board heard five-minute presentations from nominators and family members. Jenny Call described James P. Call's decades of service to Fife, citing his work on the Fife City Council (1986 1990, 1998 1999), the Fife Planning Commission and other civic boards and commissions. Roy and Tammy Yatsui presented a video and comments about Tommy Yatsui's contributions to the community and the Brookville Gardens Park area. Sarah Lane and family members presented on First Lieutenant Rudolph (Rudy) King III and the roadside and trailhead memorials that followed his death.
Board members said the choice was difficult because all three nominees had strong ties to Fife. Several members cited Tommy Yatsui's connection to Brookville Gardens Park and Jim Call's long record of local public service as key factors in their votes. The board moved and approved recognition for both Tommy Yatsui and Jim Call; the motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Following the vote, Marta (parks staff) said staff will contact both families to confirm how they want the names to appear on plaque text and to collect a photograph for the city's virtual fountain. The board set the Fountain Memorial presentation for Thursday, June 5; staff said the start time is to be confirmed (historically 5 or 6 p.m.) and that they would notify families and finalize logistics.
The board reminded nominators that unsuccessful applicants may reapply next year; nominations for this cycle had closed March 28. The presentation time for each nominee was five minutes under the process rules.
