Washougal council unanimously backs resolution supporting four federal community project requests

Joe Walsh, director of community services and strategy, presented the resolution and said the four projects were selected after the city delegation's recent trip to Washington, D.C., and consultations with the city's federal lobbyists. "The four projects that are included in this resolution for your support are the 30 Second Street Underpass, the 20 Seventh Street shared use path, the proposed PFAS treatment facility, as well as funding for an emergency operations center at the new fire station," Walsh said.
The resolution functions as a formal letter of support to be included with the city’s community project requests to members of the congressional delegation. Councilmembers expressed broad support for the list and for the city's recent advocacy in Washington. One councilmember thanked staff for pursuing the PFAS filtration work, calling it a serious public‑health issue for the community.
A motion to pass and post the resolution was made and seconded; the council approved the resolution without recorded opposition. The transcript records the approval voice vote with three successive "aye" responses and no opposition.
