The Dayton City Council approved a $5,400,000 contract award to John R. Jurgensen to start the city's 2025 residential asphalt resurfacing program, city officials said.
City staff described the project as the next phase of the residential resurfacing program and said the contract will fund resurfacing of about 50 lane miles across Dayton neighborhoods. The item was presented as calendar item No. 4 and brought forward as part of the city manager’s recommendations.
The commission moved and seconded to approve the city manager’s recommendations, and the mayor called for a voice vote. "All in favor, say aye," the mayor said; commissioners responded "Aye," and no opposition was recorded on the floor.
The city manager noted the contract amount and the program scope when highlighting the calendar: "It is a fairly brief calendar this morning. But, item number 4 is a construction contract with John R Jurgensen. It's an award of contract of $5,400,000. It is for to begin our 2025 residential asphalt resurfacing program another 50 lane miles will be resurfaced throughout our neighborhoods and, we're excited to bring this forward for your action," the manager said.
The meeting record shows the commission approved the recommendation by voice vote; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally naming how each commissioner voted.
