Norwalk Health Department staff told the Board on Jan. 28 that the department’s medical director will retire and the department has begun recruitment for a replacement. David Reed has agreed to remain in post until a successor is hired to maintain the clinical license necessary for operations.
The director said the medical-director role has been held for nearly 20 years and that the Board will have a role in confirming the incoming medical director. Staff asked for board assistance and guidance in recruitment. The department also reported recent hires: a part-time advanced practice provider supporting lead-housing work and clinical services (named Allison), and a grant-funded public-health nurse, Kaylee, who is supporting child immunization and lead case management.
No formal action was taken at the Jan. 28 meeting; staff said recruitment and personnel steps will proceed with Human Resources and that the Board will be involved in confirmation once finalists are identified.
