FEMA granted a one‑year extension to the grant performance period through August 2025, the chief said.
The department said it found a 29‑foot metal Shark boat in Pensacola that will be refurbished and fitted with electronics, a fire pump and a trailer. Based on the latest quote, the total cost for refurbishment, pump, electronics and trailer is about $220,000. The chief said the department’s combined grant and match funds exceed the quoted cost; the exact combined budget total was not specified at the meeting. The vendor estimates roughly 14 weeks to complete the refurbishment once contracted.
Commissioners asked whether the refurbishment falls within FEMA’s extended timeframe and were told the projected delivery should meet the August 2025 deadline. The department said it will provide progress updates as work proceeds.
