The Civil Service Merit Board's selection committee reported April 9 that it had selected seven candidates to interview for the civil service executive secretary vacancy.
Committee chair Jane Roberts said the panel "painstakingly went through all of the applications with a fine-tooth comb" and selected seven candidates it considered strong. The committee will work with civil service staff to schedule interviews and expects to complete interview arrangements before the summer vacation season affects scheduling.
Roberts and other board members thanked civil service staff for assistance with candidate screening. Committee members said they will present interview logistics and any additional recommendations to the full board after the interviews are scheduled.
Outgoing or interim staff expressed willingness to support an incoming executive secretary during a transition period. The committee did not present a final hire at this meeting; it reported only that interviews will move forward and that the pool of candidates is ready for the next step.
