Mayor praises Power & Light crews after pole break; reopens citizen nominations for Power Board

Mayor Pichi opened the Ripley Power and Light Power Board meeting by thanking Power & Light personnel for their response to a significant pole break just north of town over U.S. 51.
The mayor said crews worked in the rain and handled “very serious situations” while restoring service. “They worked in the rain, and they did that more than once,” the mayor said. He also praised staff for returning service quickly and noted the municipality wanted to record appreciation on the public record.
The mayor announced the city will reopen public nominations for the Ripley Power Board. He said citizens who previously applied do not need to resubmit their applications, and the city will give broader public notice because there will be more than one vacancy this round. The mayor asked for any objections from the board and, hearing none, said the process will move forward.
The meeting adjourned with board members again thanking utility crews for their work.
