The Louisa County Board of Supervisors on April 7 read and adopted a resolution recognizing Tom Woroz Jr. and the Connor Strong Foundation for their work expanding Sources of Strength, a peer‑led resilience and mental‑health initiative, in Louisa County Public Schools.
The board’s resolution credited Woroz and the foundation with introducing and funding the Sources of Strength secondary program in Louisa County, enabling full implementation in 2021; piloting an elementary version in 2024; and helping expand the program to other localities, including Fluvanna, Greene, Nelson and Manassas City. Tom Woroz Jr. said the foundation was created after his son Connor’s suicide and that the foundation’s “sole mission was to save 1 kid and have 1 family not walk in our shoes.” He said the foundation has invested more than $75,000 in Louisa County schools and will continue to support trainings and program costs.
Ashley Thorpe, the foundation’s programs director and a certified therapist, thanked Louisa County school leadership and described training activities with middle- and high-school students focused on building resilience, reducing stigma and providing peer leadership. School and county officials noted the partnership’s role in providing adult and student peer‑leader trainings and funding annual program fees and materials.
The board posed for photos and extended formal appreciation through the adopted resolution.
