CRCSD superintendent highlights progress on safety, graduation and partnerships

Dr. Tawana Grover, superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community School District, used an education address to report progress on school safety, graduation rates, early childhood education, financial stewardship and community partnerships and closed by urging care for students and staff: “love our students, love for the work we do, and love for the future we’re building together.”

The address summarized district priorities and achievements and included remarks by a student representative and a musical performance. The speech is presented by the district as a status update on ongoing initiatives that affect students, families and staff across CRCSD.

In the address, Dr. Grover highlighted improvements in school safety measures, rising graduation rates, expansion of early childhood education programs, and attention to financial stewardship and partnership-building with community organizations. The district also featured a student perspective: Kennedy High School junior and student board liaison Malik Suger spoke about how his CRCSD experience is shaping his future.

The address concluded with a musical performance by Harrison music teacher Avery Anderson, who sang “What the World Needs Now Is Love.” The district framed the address as part of its ongoing engagement with families and staff and did not announce new board actions during the remarks.

The district released the address as part of its Future Ready Today podcast; officials indicated some of the topics discussed will continue to appear on future agendas and communications.
