Board approves moving two precincts to Trevilians Elementary to improve accessibility and safety

The Louisa County Board of Supervisors on April 7 approved an ordinance amendment moving two voting precincts — Green Springs No. 2 and Louisa No. 3 — from Loving Grace Church to Trevilians Elementary School.
County election staff told the board the church location has been outgrown. The registrar said election officers and voters reported safety and accessibility problems related to vehicle access on Route 15 and the limited accessible parking at the church. “We have had several complaints from our officers of election and the voters that they would like to move to a different location,” the county registrar said, and she noted Trevilians Elementary offers accessible facilities and more parking.
A precinct worker who said she currently works the polling location, Vicki Hart of the Louisa District, told the board she supported the change: “I actually work this polling location, and I agree this is the best move that you could make… I support it.”
Board members said the change responds to safety concerns, split precinct boundaries and convenience for voters. The ordinance amendment passed by unanimous voice vote following the public hearing and related staff presentation.
