Operations and capital improvement updates at the April 22 Pleasant Valley School District meeting covered the Monroe Freer Technical Institute construction, site landscaping change orders and door hardware charges.
A district operations presenter said the crane had installed rooftop HVAC units and hoods the prior Monday, but the roofing/HVAC sequence produced a small delay; staff said the project remains on target to finish in June. The joint operating committee (JOC) approved a $14,350 change order to replace landscaping that was removed to construct a new building; the presenter said that landscaping replacement was a township requirement not included in the original bid. Staff also said the district expects a $10,000 credit because electric shades will not be installed as originally bid.
On door hardware, facilities staff reported that a vendor missed several doors during final walk-throughs, and the district is seeking an additional $12,867 to cover the extra hardware needed to complete the job. Facilities staff described the extra work as a change order to the capital reserve account and said they would place the change order on the next board meeting agenda.
Staff noted other items: switchgear and electrical troubleshooting will be addressed over the summer, and business/hospitality spaces in the new facility are scheduled to be occupied next week. Staff also reminded seniors and the public about a May 28 senior awards event (rain date May 29) and several elements of the project timeline.
Board members asked staff to verify missed door locations and to discuss vendor follow'up before approving additional change orders.
