Pueblo West board approves application, support letter for phase 2 of Civic Center Trail

The Pueblo West Metropolitan District Board voted to authorize staff to submit an application to the Colorado Department of Transportation’s multimodal and carbon reduction program for phase 2 of the Civic Center Trail and approved a board letter of support.
Carol Cosby, director of parks and recreation, said the district was awarded phase 1 last year and is in design. She told the board the draft application was due the following day and that the total project cost is $501,562.06. Cosby said the MMOF/MMOF‑funded project requires no local match and that, if federal funding were not available in future rounds, “then we will not do the trail,” adding the district would not be on the hook for matching funds.
The board first moved the item from discussion to action and then approved the resolution and support letter. Cosby said the district will present the application on April 8 and that award decisions are expected the following year.
