TV Hamilton begins streaming via Cablecast app after Community Foundation grant; district seeks new studio space

Jeff Archibald and TV Hamilton representatives briefed the board that the district’s local access channel is now streaming and available on major devices via the Cablecast app and the district’s website, extending access beyond traditional Spectrum cable subscribers.
“We are proud to announce that our programming is now streaming online and in high definition through the Cablecast app,” Archibald said, noting the channel will be available on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and mobile devices and that an on-demand section will contain recent productions. He said the upgrade was possible in part because of a grant from the Hamilton Community Foundation and described a check for $11,000 delivered to support the effort; Archibald explained the station faced equipment costs that would have required an $11,000 option to reuse old gear or roughly $28,000 to replace and upgrade.
Archibald said the streaming build will allow TV Hamilton to track viewer metrics (who is watching, duration, content preferences) more precisely than before. He also said Spectrum must complete its own work for cable HD delivery, which he said could take several months. TV Hamilton staff also discussed plans to lease studio space outside the municipal basement — identifying an office location in the former Elder-Beerman building area to avoid repeated set-up and teardown of portable equipment.
The board and presenters noted the streaming service will let relatives outside Hamilton — including grandparents who live out of state — watch school events live or on demand. Archibald credited the Hamilton Community Foundation, city and other partners for underwriting the technical upgrade and said the station expects to expand archived and live programming.
