Brighton City Council continued the first-reading public hearing on the Water Tower Place zoning map amendment to April 1 after the applicant’s design team asked for a continuance.
The ordinance under consideration would amend the zoning map for a property described in the staff notice as “approximately 14.7 to 7 acre property” generally northeast of Brighton Fire Rescue District Station 52, south of East Bridge Street and west of South 40 second Avenue. Staff indicated members of the ownership group were unable to attend the meeting and asked to move the hearing to the next scheduled council meeting.
“...the applicant design team is here tonight, but some of the members of the ownership group could not be. So they are requesting a continuance to April 1,” City staff member Summer McCann said during the meeting. Mayor Pro Tem Padilla moved to continue the item to a date certain of April 1; Councilmember Green seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote, 8 to 0, with Councilmember Johnston absent.
Because this matter was a first reading and the applicant requested additional time, no action on zoning merits or conditions was taken; the council set the continued hearing date and will take up the item again at the April 1 meeting.
The staff presentation on the item included the legal description of the parcel as recorded in the agenda packet; specific development plans, conditions, and environmental reviews were not discussed on the record at the March 18 meeting.
