Separately, Tim Nundgren presented an item to purchase new electrical switchgear directly for Nolan to mitigate a single point of failure that could disable the plant electrical service. Engineering had completed designs and the city proposed to directly procure long‑lead equipment (estimated manufacturer and materials cost about $1,000,000) and publicly bid installation labor. After bid review, the recommended installer was A. Riggs (local firm with prior service experience on the plant). With sales tax included the total reported cost to the city is $1,090,454.05. A motion to forward the purchase to City Council for approval was made and carried.
