Board reviews Reservoir Park design-contract, golf-course capital purchases and fundraising for park features

City staff updated the Board on several capital and park-related items, including a design-services contract to move Reservoir Park into construction documents, bond funding for golf-course equipment, and insurance proceeds earmarked for park rebuilding.

Leland, a city staff member, said the Reservoir Park project has been in design for about two years with the firm Cromwell and that the next phase is preparing construction documents for road improvements, the ball field and siting a playground the board previously approved. "This is to help us, create construction documents for road improvements, for the ball field, which is a really big, project of this, and also site locate the playground that this board approved last week," Leland said, adding the contract is a "not to exceed amount" and that roughly 20% of the project will be matched with federal funds.

Leland said the city will also use roughly $1.5 million in insurance proceeds for Murray and Reservoir Park to capitalize part of the work. Separately, Leland said the city set aside roughly $1.5 million in bond funds for improvements and equipment to maintain both golf facilities.

Director Peck announced a community fundraiser and volunteer cleanup for Reservoir Park. Peck said a May 21 fundraiser at Trios will aim to raise about $25,000 for the park's disc-golf project; Peck said staff and the Parks Conservancy supported outreach. Peck also said the city will host a public-impact volunteer cleanup on April 26 that will include tree planting and debris removal.

No formal votes were recorded on these items during the meeting; staff said communications to neighbors and community outreach will follow as projects advance.
